QUICK BREAD RECIPE
Musings from The Armchair Chef ~
Banana Bread is a staple American treat. It first appeared in the
1930s with the popularization of baking soda and baking powder. I
would imagine that as transportation improved, a ready supply of
bananas also contributed to its popularity. ;-)
There is a recipe for Banana Bread in in Pillsbury's 1933 Balanced
Recipes cookbook. (I'll have to add this to my *try and find*
cookbook list!)
Interestingly enough, I have a copy of the1917 Ryzon Baking Book,
featuring *Ryzon- The Perfect Baking Powder* and it doesn't have a
Banana Bread recipe...
I prefer slightly green bananas so Banana Bread is perfect for the
leftovers! *VeryBigGrin*
